How we work
Sightsavers does not carry out work directly, but we work with local partners in the countries we work. We also recognise the value in working together with other like-minded organisations on a national and global scale, to make more of a difference. You can find out more about some of the organisations we partner with in the section below.
In 2009 we launched our new strategy. We are still striving to eliminate avoidable blindness, and pushing for equal opportunities for people who are blind, but we are going about it in a slightly different way.
We recognise that to bring about real and lasting change for as many people as possible, we need to be influencing governments in the countries we work. Our projects demonstrate best practise, and our aim is that governments see how successful they are and follow our examples. This means that our projects are designed to be scaled up and rolled out nationally, thus meaning the maximum number of people can receive vital eye services.
You can read our strategic framework document here, which explains more about our strategy.
Sustainability statement
It is crucial that our projects are sustainable, so they can continue to provide vital eye care and support for people for years to come.
Working in partnership
Sightsavers does not carry out work directly, but instead work with local partners.Â
Meet the people
It's the people who work and volunteers at Sightsavers and our partners that make all our work possible. Get to know them here!
